Questions
What kind of hardware does invictusos support?
Sagaris is tuned for low‑end and legacy x86 machines. It runs comfortably on CPUs around the 1 GHz mark with limited RAM.
- Minimum: 990 MHz CPU, 512 MB RAM, ~5 GB free disk.
- Recommended: ≥ 1 GHz CPU, 1 GB RAM, ~6 GB free disk.
- No dedicated GPU is required.
Can i dual‑boot invictusos with another operating system?
Yes, but you should be careful when choosing partitions during installation.
- Make a backup of existing systems before shrinking or changing partitions.
- Use a dedicated partition or disk for InvictusOS.
- Let the installer update the bootloader, then verify entries after reboot.
The usb doesn’t show up in the boot menu. what now?
This is common on older BIOS versions and some USB controllers.
- Try a different USB port (preferably USB 2.0 if available).
- Re‑create the USB with a different writer tool.
- Check that “USB boot” or “Legacy USB” is enabled in BIOS.
- Test the USB stick on another machine to confirm it boots there.
Will invictusos erase my files during install?
It can, depending on the options you choose in the installer.
- Automatic “use entire disk” modes remove existing partitions and data.
- Manual partitioning lets you preserve other partitions, but mistakes are permanent.
- Always back up important data before any install.
How much ram does invictusos use when idle?
Idle usage is intentionally kept low so that 512 MB systems remain usable.
Exact numbers vary by hardware and services enabled, but the desktop footprint is closer to older lightweight Linux setups than to modern, heavy environments.
Does invictusos require an internet connection to install?
No, you can perform a basic install fully offline using the ISO.
An internet connection is only needed later for updates and additional software, not for the core installation process itself.
What file systems are supported for installation?
The installer targets common Linux file systems suitable for legacy hardware.
For most users, the default suggestion is fine, but advanced users can pick alternatives in manual partitioning modes if the installer exposes those options.
Can i run invictusos in a virtual machine?
Yes. InvictusOS can be installed in most common virtualization tools (VirtualBox, QEMU, etc.).
- Allocate 1 GB of RAM or more for a smoother experience.
- Give the VM at least 6 GB of virtual disk space.
- Use legacy/BIOS boot mode if you want to mirror real‑hardware behaviour.
How do i update invictusos after installation?
Updates are delivered as regular package and image updates, depending on how the system is configured.
The recommended path is to follow the project’s release notes for each Sagaris point release and apply updates from the built‑in tools or documented commands.
Where can i report bugs or request features?
Use the project’s official channels (issue tracker, community chat or forum) linked from the main InvictusOS page.
Include hardware details, logs and clear reproduction steps whenever possible—this makes it much easier to fix problems on older systems.
